If you are a PhpGedView user you will know that it comes with a standard set of themes. But you may not be aware that many users have created their own themes, either from scratch or by adaptation of one from the standard set.

This site has been created to encourage more people to develop themes; to share those already designed, and discuss any issues related to PGV themes. The site is separate but complementary to PGV's own home site (click here) and the SourceForge forums (click here).

Public visitors to this site can view screen shots of the themes at GALLERY; view full demonstrations of PGV and any of the themes on this site at DEMO; and read the discussions about all aspects of the PGV themes in FORUM.

If you care to register with us, then you can also download the latest themes (all entirely free); upload your own themes in FILES; contribute to any of the forum discussions; and add to our valuable store of FAQs.

The FAQ pages contain advice on how to use this site, and information about creating and using PGV themes.

New TurboOcean Theme PDF Print E-mail
This theme was developed to load faster than the original ocean theme.
I did it for my aunt with the 56K modem. Naturally a theme can't solve all pgv speed problems, but on 56K you are thankfull for every speedup...
ABOUT TURBOOCEAN THEME
======================
This theme is derived from my favourite, the ocean theme.
It tries to load and behave faster than the traditional phpgedview themes.
For this it uses css menus instead of the toplink table/javascript menus.

To reduce http requests (faster loading) the toplink gifs were combined to a single css sprite.
To further reduce http requests this theme uses the minify system to load its css files.

According to websiteoptimization.com the turboocean theme loads on a 56K connection
at least 5sec faster than the original ocean theme even when using compression
like apache2's mod_deflate.

REQUIREMENTS
============
PhpGedView V4.1.6
Due to the use of the minify system this theme requires php5.
You need a reasonable browser or msie > version 6.

From the minify readme (config.php is in the min directory):

RECOMMENDED

It's recommended to edit config.php to set $min_cachePath to a writeable
(by PHP) directory on your system. This will improve performance.
